Workshop/Service Opportunity

Katrina and New Orleans – Lessons Learned

You have seen the pictures, now experience the reality of what has been aptly described as a natural disaster and a man-made catastrophe.

During this four day experience you will have the opportunity to:

·        Meet the people who are the victims

·        Help them clean up and rebuild

·        Meet with members of the Archdiocese and religious communities as well as community leaders about what happened and what will happen next.

You will:

·        Serve the community of New Orleans

·        Learn more about poverty and racism and how it impacts critical decisions in cities not just New Orleans

·        Reflect on the effects of poverty and racism in light of who we are as Christians and Marianists

·        Look at ways that we can continue to respond to the needs on the Gulf Coast and in our own cities.

When

April 28-May 1, May 19-22 and June 23-26.

Cost-

Housing, food and transportations expenses in New Orleans will be covered along with the first $200 in travel to and from New Orleans (if needed).
