The following is a sample script to help you prepare for a call or email to your legislators about just and humane immigration reform. Feel free to add your own message or restate it in your own words. The MSJC Racial and Immigrant Justice Team will update this periodically to include the latest message that legislators need to hear regarding immigration reform.

For a phone call:

Hello, my name is ____________________ and I am participating in the Call to Action for Immigration Reform sponsored by the Marianist Family. I am concerned that out of frustration with the lack of action by the federal government, states are coming up with their own laws to deal with immigration. We need the federal government to act now on immigration reform. I urge you to do all you can to enact federal immigration reform that reunifies families and provides a pathway to legal status for undocumented immigrants.

For an email message:

My name is ____________________ and I am participating in the Call to Action for Immigration Reform sponsored by the Marianist Family. I am concerned that out of frustration with the lack of action by the federal government, states are coming up with their own laws to deal with immigration. Most of them do not reflect the hospitality that we say we value as a nation. Having 50 different laws for immigration does not make for a very efficient policy nor does it address the brokenness of the immigration system. I urge you to do all you can to enact federal immigration reform that reunifies families and provides a pathway to legal status for undocumented immigrants.
