Through the summer season, You have replenished our spirits

in the playfulness of gentle breezes and refreshing rain

the laughter of children romping outdoors

lush colors of flowers and butterflies

the merriment of songbirds and tenacity of mother ducks and young

times of retreat, celebration, professional development, reading and insight.

Soak our wicks deep in this memory oil

and enlighten us with Your flame of Wisdom for the new year,

that we may become gentle smiles and thoughtful words of encouragement

and compassion that nurture all life entrusted to our care.

We ask for the gift of wholeness

and for the grace to accept of all parts of ourselves still in need of growth.

Teach us patience with ourselves, our families and communities and partners in ministry

and openness to the letting-go's of the upcoming autumn season

that we may surrender to Your transforming Grace.

Instill in us a spirit of gratitude

that ever delights in the wonders of Your creative love

brought anew in the freshness of each day.

As we faithfully work with You our Great Teacher and Community Builder to educate and re-create our world in justice and peace.
