    Sweatshop Labor

Good news! The efforts of the Sweatshop Labor Team (and many others) in trying to get the worker owned factory in Bangladesh off the ground just got a big boost. After many months of working with Fr. Bill Christensen to support the development of the project, including sending a strong letter of support for funding to the Public Welfare Foundation, we recently found out that the Foundation of has approved a grant of $60,000 for the JBM Garments, Ltd. factory. This is to be used to purchase 140 specialized sewing machines from Japan.

    A Thought to Ponder

Several times I have decided to leave El Salvador. I almost could except for the children, the poor bruised victims of this insanity. Who would care for them? Whose heart would be so staunch as to favor the reasonable thing in a sea of their tears and helplessness. Not mine, dear friend, not mine.
